2020 was a year to remember for many reasons. Here is a recap of what happened in Country.
Starting with births, stars welcoming new members to their families included Thomas Rhett, Shay Mooney, Frankie Ballard, Jimmie Allen, Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd, Cadillac Three drummer Neil Mason, Morgan Wallen, Dwight Yoakam, Russell Dickerson, and Tyler Hubbard.
We lost many this year as well. Legends like Kenny Rogers, Joe Diffie, Statler Brothers member Harold Reid, Charlie Daniels, Mac Davis, Hal Ketchum, and Charley Pride.
As far as relationships we saw marriages for Dwight Yoakam, Luke Combs, LANCO guitarist Eric Steedly, and Jon Pardi. We also had engagements for Jake Owen and Blake Shelton.
Divorces were also in the headlines with Carly Pearce and Michael Ray calling it quits after just eight months of marriage. Also filing were Kacey Musgraves and Darius Rucker.
COVID of course changed a lot of things with the total cancellation of country music concerts this year and the industry’s award shows having to be completely reworked. Also several celebrities reported their positive cases. Runaway June member Jennifer Wayne, Parker McCollum, Lee Brice, Tyler Hubbard. And it was the cause of death for Joe Diffie and Charley Pride.
This is a year that will never be forgotten.
