By News Nov 18, 2020 | 5:34 AM

The Kearney City Council unanimously approved a city-wide mask mandate at a special meeting last night. Council members spoke about ‘doing the right thing for the community’ and helping to alleviate stress on hospitals experiencing staff shortages and capacity issues. Kearney’s mask mandate goes into effect Monday. Police Chief Bryan Waugh says Kearney Police will seek voluntary compliance rather than writing tickets. The mask mandate is in effect until February 23, but could be rescinded if there’s significant improvement
