I have been having the discussion with several people recently about all of the amazing releases we are hearing coming out of this year. Artists not allowed to tour or perform in person have taken advantage of the time off to create some of their best work. One of those artists is Keith Urban. He began the project before the pandemic but he does admit that due to the state of the world the album changed along the way.
He officially released his 11th studio album, titled “The Speed of Now Part 1” He had been talking for several months about the project and had released a couple of songs along the way. Even though Part 1 is in the title he has not mentioned anything about a Part 2…yet.
The Speed of Now Part 1 was released on Sept. 18th under Capitol Records. But we heard the first single back in February, when Keith Urban debuted “God Whispered Your Name”
His 2019 single “We Were appears on the end of the album, both as originally released and as a collaboration with one of its co-writers, Eric Church.
On this album you’ll find collaborations with several artists including Pop Star, Pink.
It is hard for me to tell you which song on this album is my favorite, because there is not a single track I don’t like. Tumbleweed gets your feet tapping and gets you singing along. Say Something is one that I play over and over with it’s positive thoughts and messages. Polaroid is a fun look back at growing up. Superman has a fun video and a great hook. Like I said, I can’t pick a favorite. Excited to share this album with all of you and to see what he releases to radio next. Also excited to see if we get a Part 2!
