NE Strong UPDATE

By News Oct 19, 2020 | 5:39 AM

Gov. Pete Ricketts has issued new restrictions as the number of coronavirus cases increase. Hospitals must reserve 10% of beds, including ICU, for COVID patients. And they must continue to accept and cannot transfer those patients to create capacity for elective procedures. Bar and restaurant customers must stay seated with no more than eight per table. Indoor gatherings have been reduced to 50% capacity. Outdoor gatherings cannot exceed 10,000 and groups are limited to eight in any setting. The new restrictions take effect Wednesday.

According to the City of Hastings, following the latest guidelines from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the South Heartland District Health Department, they are going to temporarily closing certain city buildings to the public starting Monday, Oct. 19, in an effort to avoid potential exposures of COVID-19.  This includes the Library and the Museum.  Visit the City of Hastings website for more.

Hastings Parks and Recreation announced plans for an inclusive playground for kids of all abilities that will be built in Crosier Park. The playground will be sensory rich, meaning there are a lot of colors, textures, and things to explore. Aimed at children 12 and under, there will be swings, musical elements and ramps to make sure everyone gets to play. The foundation felt this kind of playground would be a positive step for Hastings. After several conversations with families, they found there is a big demand for this kind of space. The city hopes it will be completed by the summer of 2022.
