KGFW Sports – Husker Update, No Storm Fans and High School Results and Schedules

By News Oct 14, 2020 | 7:18 AM

Pinnacle Bank Arena is hosting a watch party for the Nebraska football team’s season opener at Ohio State on Oct. 24th. The doors will open at 10:00, one hour before kickoff. Admission is free. Masks are required to gain entry and must be worn throughout the event. There will be pod seating to allow for social distancing.

The Huskers have added another member to the 2021 recruiting class. Kelen Meyer, a placekicker from Ord, has accepted a Nebraska walk-on offer. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound Meyer booted a 58-yard field goal this season, which ranks as the second-longest field goal in the state’s history. The Ord native is rated as a 4.5-star kicker by Kohl’s kicking. He is the 20th known verbal commitment of the 2021 recruiting class. The Huskers now have six in-state commits which is the most since the 2019 recruiting class.

The New York Jets have signed former Nebraska cornerback Lamar Jackson to the active roster, and Prince Amukamara has been signed to the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad.

With the recent increase of reported cases of COVID-19 in Buffalo County, the Tri-City Storm will not allow fans to attend Saturday’s first scheduled pre-season game against the Lincoln Stars at the Viaero Center. Fans that have purchased single game tickets to Saturday’s contest will contacted in the next few days. Season ticket holders will be receiving a flex voucher for this game as well. The organization is hopeful fans will be able to return in some capacity on Wednesday, October 21st when the Storm host Omaha.
