KGFW Sports – NU Black Friday, Huskers Add TE and High School Update

By News Oct 13, 2020 | 7:08 AM

The Nebraska football team will face the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Black Friday. The Big Ten Conference made that announcement Monday. The Big Ten West rivals have met on Black Friday each year since the Huskers joined the Big Ten. Overall, this will mark the 31st straight season Nebraska has played on Black Friday, dating back to the 1990 season. In addition to 10 matchups with Iowa, the Huskers played Colorado for 15 straight seasons from 1996 to 2010, and met Oklahoma six consecutive years from 1990 to 1995. The kickoff time will be announced at a later date and the game will be televised by FOX or FS1.

James Carnie, a three-star tight end from Norris High, announced his commitment to the Huskers Monday. The 6-foot-5 220-pound Carnie had 20 offers and picked the Huskers over Kansas State, Iowa and Pitt. He is the 19th known verbal commitment of the 2021 recruiting class. The Huskers now have five in-state commits which is the most since the 2019 recruiting class.

Athlon ranks the Huskers’ schedule as the toughest in the Big Ten. The publication points to games against Ohio State and Penn State in crossover matchups in the first four weeks, plus a game against the Badgers and Northwestern. They end by saying “Nebraska has very few easy wins to look forward to this season.”

The digital-only 2020 Husker media guide is now available for viewing and downloading at HUSKERS.com.
