By News Sep 11, 2020 | 5:49 AM

The G-PAC conference, which includes Hastings College, is one of the only NAIA conferences in America that is playing a Fall Football season amid the pandemic. The Hastings College football team kicks off its season tomorrow at home against Dakota Wesleyan. Kickoff is at 1pm at Lloyd Wilson Field. The Hastings College Athletic Department will be allowing 75 percent capacity at the stadium. Fans are reminded to arrive early and that masks will be required.

Husker Athletics have acquired their own rapid testing for COVID19 via a partnership with UNMC. The NU testing lab will be set up in East Stadium. The program will allow Nebraska to test players and staff along with opponents the night before a game and then have immediate results. It will also provide three less invasive tests per week for athletes. NU is hoping the program can help encourage the Big Ten to consider returning to competition soon.

Nebraska-Kearney football is moving forward with practice and plan to host a “Blue-Gold” game on the same day as homecoming, scheduled for Oct. 10. UNK is allowed 15 official team practices by the NCAA, which are being scattered throughout the course of one month, beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 15. All practices are open to the public, including a couple of Saturday morning scrimmages being held on Sept. 26 and Oct. 3. The game is happening at 3pm October 10th and the cost is $5 per person.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s December commencement on December 19th is shifting to an online celebration due to COVID-19 concerns. Along with the online celebration, the university is also allowing all May, August and December 2020 graduates the opportunity to participate in any future commencement ceremony with special recognition. Today is the final day for Huskers to apply to receive a degree during December commencement.. Students can access the university web page for information on applying for graduation.
