We have never had a shortage of singing competition television shows. Over the years we have witnessed shows such as The Winner Is, Rising Star, CMTs Next Superstar, Can You Duet, Nashville Duet, Star Search, X Factor, American Idol, The Sing-Off, The Voice, and America’s Got Talent.
Tonight a new game hits the airwaves with “Real Country” premiering on USA Network at 9pm Central.
What catches my attention and makes me want to tune in are the members of the panel. Travis Tritt, Jake Owen & Shania Twain pick their own emerging solo artists, duos and groups to build their teams and perform in showcases that spotlight specific country genres, for the chance to be named one of country music’s next breakout acts.
21 artists have been selected for the show. Each week, three of the artists compete for $10,000, a performance at Stagecoach, and a spot in the grand finale where they will then battle for a chance to win $100,000 and a chance to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.
The series will run for eight weeks with a celebrity guest each week. For the premiere it is Big & Rich. They have previewed that Trace Adkins, Kane Brown, and Wynona will also be appearing on the show at some point in the season.
I am a fan of live music and finding new artists so I am excited to see how this turns out. I am also excited as acts I have seen play locally are competing in the show. So tonight at 9pm tune into USA for “Real Country” and we may be seeing the start of something historic. The beginning of a favorite tv show or the start of a star’s career. Stay tuned.
