It’s always very cool to meet one of our Y102 artists. It’s especially cool when you meet them when they are experiencing a milestone. Chris Young brought his “Losing Sleep” tour to Lincoln on Saturday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The crowd was large! With the exception of a few sections in the upper bowl it was absolutely full. Morgan Evans wowed the crowed with an acoustic set including his top 20 hit “Kiss Somebody”. But the moment of the night for McKenna and I was getting to head backstage and see Kane Brown. We were excited and nervous to be the first ones in line of a very large meet and greet beneath PBA. I was honored to meet Kane and was pumped to be one of the first radio industry professionals to relay a message to Kane. Congratulations. Kane had just found out he had his second career #1. AND his first solor #1 song. That’s right “Heaven” is atop the Billboard and MediaBase country charts this week. Kane’s first #1 was “What Ifs” with Lauren Alaina. My cool moment was to stop after our photo and tell him that we here at Y102 are proud to play the song and are equally proud it’s a #1. His eyes lit up and a huge smile came. That was followed by a good fist bump. Yeah it’s always cool to meet an artist. It’s icing on the cake to be able to share in a memorable moment!
